Course Structure and Features on TRAIVIS

  1. Course & Sale Price : The Course Price is the standard cost for enrolling in a course. While, the Sale Price is a discounted cost offered for a course, usually for a limited time or during promotional periods. This price is lower than the regular Course Price and provides an opportunity for students to enrol at a reduced rate. These prices are determined by the instructor and reflect the value of the course content, materials, and instruction provided.

  2. Course Levels: Courses are categorised into levels: Beginner, Intermediate, and Expert, to cater to varying skill levels and learning needs.

  3. Available Seats: The number of available seats is indicated for each course.

  4. Lectures:

    • Live Lectures: Online lectures conducted in real-time, facilitating engagement between educators and learners via video conference calling service. These lectures are scheduled with a specific start date and time. The lecture link is kept hidden until the starting time and it becomes inactive 12 hours after the scheduled start time. The attendance of both students and instructors is tracked using the TRAIVIS algorithm. In the event of technical or connectivity problems leading to incorrect attendance records, instructors have the ability to adjust student attendance times for fairness and accuracy.

    • face-to-face lectures: In-person lectures take place at physical venues and offer a conventional classroom learning environment. These lectures provide a designated duration for each session, allowing students to plan their schedules accordingly. The TRAIVIS algorithm automatically records the attendance of all enrolled students based on this duration, 12 hours after the scheduled start time, although the instructor has the flexibility to make adjustments if necessary.

    • Recorded Lectures: Pre-recorded lectures provide the convenience of accessing them at any given time, allowing students to engage in self-paced learning. These lectures are made available only after a specified start date, ensuring that the video content is not displayed until the designated time. The video could be uploaded directly to TRAIVIS platform or been uploaded to an external platform and its link is embedded to TRAVISI Platform.

  5. Quizzes:

    • Quizzes are created by the instructor who determines the question type, which can be either open-ended or closed-ended. An open-ended question requires the respondent to provide their own feedback using their own words, whereas a closed-ended question consists of predetermined answer choices for the respondent to select from. It is possible for a quiz to include both types of questions.

    • Each question is marked out of 10 points, contributing to the total score, which is calculated by multiplying the total number of questions by 10 points.

    • Pass points are set by the instructor to determine the minimum score required to pass the quiz.

    • The duration of the quiz is also set by the instructor to specify the time limit for completing the quiz.

    • Number of Attempts: Instructors can set the number of attempts allowed for each quiz. This allows students to retake the quiz multiple times to improve their score or comprehension.

    • Marking Quizzes on TRAIVIS: 1- Automatic Marking for Multiple Choice Questions: Multiple-choice questions are marked automatically by the system. Results for these questions are immediately displayed to the student. If a multiple-choice question requires more than one correct answer, the student must select all correct options to receive full marks. Otherwise, they will be marked down. 2- Manual Marking for Open-ended Questions: Open-ended questions are sent to the instructor for manual marking. The result of open-ended questions will be pending the instructor's feedback. The students will be notified and results will be shown upon marking them. 3- Mixed Questions: If a quiz contains a mix of open-ended and multiple-choice questions: Results for multiple-choice questions are shown automatically. The result of open-ended questions will be pending until manually marked by the instructor. The overall quiz score won't be calculated or shown until all questions are marked. 4- Quiz Duration and Submission: If the quiz duration runs out without the student clicking the submit button. Filled answers will be marked automatically. Unanswered questions will be marked as wrong answers

  6. Assignment:

    • An assignment is a task or project assigned by an instructor to a student as part of their coursework. It is marked out of 100 points, with the pass percentage determined by the instructor. Each assignment comes with a start date and can be of two types: "Valid For" and "Valid Until.

    • Types of Assignments: Valid For: This type of assignment has a duration set by the instructor, starting from the student's enrolment date; Example: If an assignment is valid for 30 days and a student enrols on June 1st, the assignment will be due by June 30th. Valid Until: This type of assignment has a specific due date set by the instructor, regardless of when the student enrols. Example: If an assignment is set to be valid until June 30th, all students must submit their work by this date, no matter when they enrolled.

    • Assignment Start Date: The date when the assignment becomes available to students.

    • Assignment Description: A detailed explanation of the assignment requirements and objectives.

    • Assignment Uploaded Files: Instructors may provide additional files related to the assignment, such as reading materials, templates, or data sets.

    • Assignment Submission Process: 1- Access the Assignment: Visit the assignment section on the platform once the start date has passed. Read the assignment description and download any provided files. 2- Complete the Assignment: Follow the instructions and guidelines provided in the assignment description. Prepare your submission, which may include uploading files and writing a text response in the provided text box. 3- Submit the Assignment: Upload your completed assignment files, write any necessary text in the text box, click on the "Submit" button to send your assignment to the instructor, and assignment status will be (pending).

    • Feedback and Scoring: 1- Instructor Feedback: Once your assignment is submitted, the instructor will review it and provide feedback. The feedback process is iterative, meaning the instructor can provide multiple rounds of feedback, and students can respond accordingly, and assignment status will change to (Under Review & Feedback). The continuous feedback process aims to help students improve their work and learn from their mistakes before receiving a final grade. 2- Final Feedback and Score: When the instructor has provided all necessary feedback and is ready to finalise the grading, they will mark the feedback as "Final Feedback with Score". At this point, the instructor will assign a score out of 100 points to the assignment. After final feedback is provided and a score is given, students will no longer be able to send further correspondence related to the assignment, and assignment status will change to either (Passed) or (underperformed) depends on the student's grade .

TRAIVIS assumes that all instructors grade assignments fairly and impartially. TRAIVIS does not influence or alter the instructor's grading decisions.
